J.L. (Janet) McNaughton is a sci-fi fantasy novelist based in Northern British Columbia. Her debut novel, Before The Dawn, was published in 2014 by FriesenPress — the first in a planned trilogy following James, a shy teenage misfit, on his journey into the fantasy world of Terrain.
The book was more than three decades in the making, written while raising two children, working full time, and completing a university degree. Janet launched Before The Dawn in Fort Nelson and Fort St. John, BC, and on Canada’s east coast at Halifax’s Humani-T Cafe.
